Amy Currell & Leica Camera

Leica Gallery London, November 2023

Aurora

This inaugural solo exhibition for Amy Currell weaves together the timeless beauty of flowers with the celestial colours of the aurora borealis. Large format photographs, creates in Amy's signature blend of mesmerising hues, pulls you into the contemporary world of colour and singular detail. This show draws inspiration from classical floral subjects of the 17th century Dutch masters. there is a gentle sense of romanticism and softness in the work that invited the viewer to immerse themselves within it and disconnect, for a sort time, from the outside world.

Displayed on our dibond mounted prints which were printed onto metallic paper and finished with a custom high gloss laminate to really show the colours and definition that is shown throughout Amy's photography. Our dibond prints are fitted with a sub frame that is smaller than the overall print to create a modern float like illusion which really helped the prints be the focal point on the wall.

Rethinking Stereotypes

Homeless or not?

We have had the honours of sponsoring an exhibition by a great photographer Christopher Hall which opened at John Lewis High Wycombe.

Just over a decade ago, Christopher James Hall spent two years being homeless in and around the High Wycombe area. Christopher worked with the Wycombe Homeless Connection with one of the activities being photography. Two years after his first display, Christopher had found a permanent place to live and just after moving in he was given a camera by someone who remembered how inspired he was by the photography project. Christopher now works as a professional wedding and portrait photographer and he founded The Narrators Lens, a not for profit company that provides photography workshops, projects and mentoring to disadvantaged individuals. To mark ten years since the first exhibition John Lewis High Wycombe have once again put his photographs on display.

We worked closely with Christopher to print out a selection of 2mm board mounted prints for his exhibition which was a great hit. Each board mounted print had an individual, that Christopher had photographed, printed onto lustre paper. The aim of the exhibition was to get people to rethink stereotypes and make a decision wether the printed portraits were homeless or not.
